In normal obsessing over runewords is kind of a waste of time, because gear you find in stores is plenty. The Barbarians your ice will likely be enough as LONG as you respect the guy throwing axes. You can also find an item that gives you 1 point into static field (like a wand) and use that as an alternative weapon to get it, and that'll help you with bosses like Duriel - though that requires some player skill and teleport scumming. If you're playing Solo, leveling will take minutes - it's not worth the time to overanalyze, but to just "play". Again, this may be time to just ask for help. The Barbarians too might cause you some trouble when you fight them, but Ice tends to just plenty. You can use your skills as a player to get through most problems. There may be a few points in the game that slow you down (Izual potentially), but other than that - don't sweat it. It'll take longer, but certain spells are very adept at handling Duriel. You may find strategies as simple as switching your wand to something with fire spells, using you +skills in your armor to accentuate it. Magoo your way to hell, as long as you respect that Duriel will require you to stop and re-evaluate. Easiest way to handle him is to just ask for someone to stomp Duriel when you get to him - and to respec your merc immediately upon getting there. The exception is Duriel in Act 2, who will always give you problems. Your damage may be stunted, but not enough to make the game impossible. In normal, enemy resistances can be overcome, meaning if you stack Ice hard, you can hurt most anything.
